Christmas in Seattle is a special time. Lights pop up throughout our favorite neighborhoods, and our favorite restaurants don Holiday decorations. Homes get festive and people start counting down the days, and we can’t help but smile. It’s a city transformed for a few weeks—everywhere you look, the city seems happier, merrier, cozier.
One event that caught our eye this year: SAM Lights.
The SAM will bring lights and luminaires to Olympic Sculpture Park on December 17th this year. Luminaires will line the path through the sculptures and make a mystical, festive atmosphere. The Chaotic Noise Marching Corps will be there, too, to create a full evening in the Holiday spirit. If you want a sample of their music, check out the video below!
We’re most looking forward to artist Andy Behrle’s one-time display. His art uses water and light “to explore the invisible reality that surrounds us.” If Andy Behrle inspires you, you can make your own light-based art inside with artists Romson Regarde Bustillo, Tariqa Waters, and Janet Fagan, as well as the Light Table Design Collective. There’s also a kid’s play area with projects geared for younger budding artists. A few of Seattle’s favorite food trucks will be there, too.
This evening looks magical. We can’t wait for the SAM to transform Seattle into a light-filled wonderland.
